Default hmm, picked up the belkin car kit + tape adapter + cup holder mount for iPod

and gave it a whirl yesterday in the A4...

when both the iPod and tape adapter are plugged into the car kit piece (which is plugged into the cigarette lighter), there are way too many wires running around.

When I have the tape adapter plugged into the headphone jack and the iPod mounted in the forward cupholder, it actually works pretty well- but the sound isn't quite as good.

hmm, guess I'll have to look more into hard-wiring it.

I know Belkin had the FM Modulator. May be that is better.

I know I should STFA but does the FM Modulator hardwire to the antenna input? Or is it a transmitter

No, it is a transmitter. No need to connect to antenna. You can tune to 4 channels 88.X MHz

Default for FM or hardwired...

for FM, this is your best bet.

For hardwired this totally rocks
http://www.ihavetohave.it/acatalog/ICE-Link_Audi.html

I have both (I use the FM when I am in other cars than my own), the ICE link allows your iPod to be controlled by the OEM head unit and a few others if you contact them to customize. I mounted my iPod in my arm rest with the cable running through the (unused) phone jack hole.

Default Optimus! Where did you get your ICE Link?

I checked out their site & it seems like EXACTLY what I've been looking for!

Do you have a picture of what the setup looks like?

What functions does it control?

How much did you pay for it?

Do you like it or do you think it would be more worthwhile to just do the blitzsafe adapter to the trunk?

TIA!!!

Default yeah, a co-worker had the iTrip, and hated it

I'll look into the ICE hook-up, though

Default Re: Optimus! Where did you get your ICE Link?

Use the prior link (from GB) or try this one.

Current functions are track forward and reverse as well as fast forward and rewind. These are mapped to CD1. They have a chart that details what ports are used and hint at what features will be added in the future. I am assuming the 3rd Gen iPod will take advantage of these future features. I have a 2nd Gen iPod and really only need track forward and reverse anyway.

I also have the blitzsafe adapter but never installed it. You can have it for $75

I don't havn't taken pictures yet of my install/set up yet.<ul><li><a href="http://densionusa.com/merchant/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&amp;Product_Code=I_AUDI_A ADS003MK2&amp;Category_Code=IA">USA vendor</a></li></ul>
