Default hood insulation
has anyone taken the foam out from underneath their hood? is it ok on the paint?? (heat wise)

Agree it isn't necessary .. but my 99.5 1.8t has it ..

other than that I don't think it has a purpose

Default I've had mine out for a few months, and it's 115F here ...
no probls. It's all about noise-reduction - which I haven't noticed it being any louder anyway.

I had to take mine out because I didn't want it to touch my newly painted engine covers ...
