I've been complaining since day one about the lack of any lumbar support on the leatherette seats in the 1.8 in MY 2000. Apparently AOA heard me and now offers this. To late for me. Rather than spend 1k on a recaro or find a wreck and swap seats, I set out to replace the Dr. Scholl's pillow I've been using to support my seriously overextended lower back (to many years of carrying kegs I guess). I got a referral to Bascom Auto Trim in Santa Clara CA. Apparently they are the local "it" place. Lots of porsches, classic muscle cars, mercedes etc. They do all kinds of interior work. So, they installed a 3 bladder adjustable (air pump) lumbar in my driver seat through the rear access panel, and fastened it in place. The pump is located just in front of the handle to adjust the seat and is relatively inobtrustive. The inflatable bladder has enough lumbar for the most unstable octogenarian spine. I find the insert a bit odd insofar as I can feel the 3 inflatable balloons far too well, it would be nicer if the seat had padding in front of the balloons. To do that would be an extra couple hours of labor. Overall, the job cost me on $125 including parts and labor. Quite a bit less than the alternatives and better than that dumb ortho pillow. I'll see how it feels before I plunk down another 100 or so for the increased foam padding. If you are in Norcal, I suggest Bascom for any interior needs. 408-727-2292. Ask for Byron--he provides great customer service.

When you mean sport seats, are you talking about Audi sport seats and whether they can fool with the lumbar on that??
I'm willing to say, based on what I saw today, that there is NOTHING that this shop cannot take apart and put back together. As an example, there was a 00 Beetle in their that was completely stripped of its interior. It appears a snake and a mouse were playing hide and seek in the upohlstery when both decided to depart this earth. As you can imagine, both stunk the place up and they had to take everything out to get the smell out. So they are adept at putting together entire interiors. I saw the snake, poor guy was kinda cute.

I purchased an inversion bar that hangs above my spare bedroom doorway. I bought it online, including gravity boots, for about $150. I spend about 10 minutes every other day or so hanging from it, and my back hasn't felt better in years. I even did the chiropractor trips a few years ago (total B.S. profession if you ask me) and that didn't help. Two sessions on the bar did more for my back than any doctor ever thought about. I highly recommend it. I think I got it from bodytrends.com.
