How to accurately check oil & tire air pressure, cold or warm?
This may sound naive but to check the oil properly, should I check when the engine's cold like 1st thing in the morning or should I run the car for 30 sec or so, then turn it off, then check.
Along those lines, to check air pressure in tires, I always heard to check when cold, not after the car's been driven for a while. I typically do it before I get in, 1st thing in the morning before driving.
Am I doing these things correctly?
TIA

Info
Oil: check when car is at normal operating temp, not just after running for 30 seconds. I do it upon returning home after a drive.
Tires: check when cold, i.e. not driven for at least several hours. Also, ideally, first thing in the morning before the ambient temp has risen. The idea is to get a true "cold" reading, which will increase due to both increases in ambient temp and to tire temp due to driving. Get a good quality tire gauge, preferably two so you can check them against each other. I use Accu-Gauges. And don't forget the spare!
