How did your insurance company value your chip after total loss?

Default Some insurance policies require that that you notify them of mods....

...and then they can cancel your insurance or raise your rates. If this is the case, davenaff may be dropped even though the accident is not his fault.

Default How much? When?

So you sold youre A4 for as much as an higher milage S4 sells for? Almost 2x as much is at least 14k. B5 V6s havent been worth that much for 3-4 yrs.

Default I just swiped mine. They never noticed. Car was completly totaled though.

I wouldnt recommend that. Silvers idea is best. Not sure where you can get an old non-chipped ECU. Ask around.

Default When I was in high school, I was hit in my VW Rabbit. Totalled. So I called the...

...adjuster and asked if I could take a few things off the car...you know, like the radio and stuff. He reluctantly agreed. We pulled the drive train. They never said a word.

car-part.com for ~$100-150 and sell the chipped one for profit.

Default wow. ins. co. usually don't care, as long as the salvage yard doesn't care/notice.

sometimes, parts are left on the side of the road, right?
