Default How do the *inner* CVs remove to replace boots? photos/writeup?

I'm doing both the inner and outer CV Boots. I found the tech for the outer ones and have one of the outer CV's off. Now how do I get the inner off? The same way???

Default I think you need to remove the axle to get 'em.

and I think it uses a special bit to remove the bolts. Pretty straight forward and, AFAIK, the procedure for replacing the boots is the same.

Mike@PureMS will know as we removed the whole axle to do the CV boots on my car.

Default Got the axle in your hands?

Clean the end of the axle up, you will find snap ring.

Once the snap ringis out you may have to beat the shaft outof the CV.

Default inner has a snap ring....

I assume you removed the 6 bolts and the axle is out, yes?
DO NOT TAKE INNER JOINT APART!!!
Its an extreme pain in the effing *** to get back together, it is a slightly differnt design than the outer one (it has weird tapered groves) and a pain to take apart and put back tohther, I actualy locked mine up, got friestrated and just ordered a re-man axle with brand new joints from raxles for $175.
but anyway once the axle is out there should be a snap ring on the end of the inner side.
be carefull not to pop a ball out when removing, I did, its no fun at all.

Default I'm not sure I follow. You say not to take the inner joint apart, but then you mention removing it?

I have the axle on the bench, and I see the snap ring. so what do I do?

Remove the snap ring, press (pull) the joint off of the axle, clean, repack etc.
