How do I find out if my "new" car was a demo? Warranty issues
Okay, here is the situation. I brought my car in for service yesterday and I got a nice call from the dealer telling me my car is out of warranty. I purchased the car NEW on June 12, 1998. The car has 30,000 miles on it. The warranty should not be over...right? It seems the warranty expired on 2/26/2001. Anyway, I placed a call to the dealership I purchased the car from and they said they would handle it. They contacted the servicing dealership and I believe they told them to perform the work and bill it to my purchasing dealership....not Audi of America. From what I was told all my purchasing dealership had to do was contact AOA and submit the papers showing the date of sale. Then the warranty would be valid again. It sounds like they did not do this. So here is my question...
My car had sat on the lot since Feb of 1998, it had 150 miles on it. The warranty book says it expires on 2/26/01 (I had asked about that when I picked the car up, they claimed no problem). Could they have sold me a car that was a demo as a new car? If so how can I get proof of this...would AOA have it?
Thanks in advance for the help.

150 miles was likely, Test drives, errands etc......
But, the car is "new" until registered (atleast here in Calif.) my 96' Maxima was "new" and had 17k miles on it when I bought it, sales managers car.
My A4 had only 11 miles on it when I picked it up.
The warranty between you and Audi is from the date of the Sale. You have those last few precious weeks left!
my $0.02
anyone else?
Audi On!

my car was a demo sold "as new", but I will probably encounter the same problems he did, for my car
probably sat on the lot for close to a year before it was sold. I bought it right when the '01 were coming out and it's a 99.5, and had 2300 mi. on the clock.
I knew about this, of course, otherwise you would never be able to buy a "new" a4q for < $24k. If his dealership deceived him, that's entirely different.

Thats what I thought when I bought it but the warranty expired 4 months early...
At the top of my sales form there are three boxes: New, Demo, Used. New was checked. I was always told the car was new, not a demo. What I was told at my servicing dealership is that the warranty starts when the car is picked up by the end user, ie me. The only time that is different is if the car is a demo, then the warranty begins when the car was classified as a demo. That is the only thing that would make sense to me since the warranty started in Feb of 1998 and I purchased the car in June of 1998.
