I have never used the VAG tool and need to check my ABS brake light to possibly shut it off without having it fixed if there is major damage...Any suggestions??

check your brake fluid level, that might solve your problem.

Default Stop being a sissy. Stick your head under the dash and look.

You'll see a matching connector.

Default The tool is very intuitive.

Go into the ABS/Brakes module, click fault codes, and click clear codes.

Odds are, the problem will trigger the light to come back on again, which means whatever is causing the issue is still there.

What could it be? Bad ABS sensor, bad ABS control unit. Write down the code before you clear it. Search AW after you pull that code for more info.
