How do I take out the "pop-up" cup holder...

I believe only from underneath it....meaning you have to take out the center console.
Which isn't that hard. I think there is a FAQ on removing it.
you undo 2 screws where the center console meets the shifter area, undo the bolts that hold the center console down in the rear (1 under the rear ash tray, 2 under the tray that is directly below the armrest) and then pull up and start unplugging some of the wires.
