Default 97 1.8TQM....more

I purchased the AWE K04 kit with the GIAC software. Correct me if i am wrong, but I am under the impression the ecu just controls (among many other things) the injector pulse. So for a given pulse a stock injector at a higher pressure should deliver the same amount of fuel as a larger injector at a lower pressure. That said does software really make a difference?

Default Yes, but the larger injectors will allow a more even flow

vs the stock injector at high pressure. Yes software makes a huge difference because the tuner can adjust to smooth out those fuel dips by adjusting the fuel maps in those sections.

Default Re: Hows start up and idle?...

is just north above 5 bar I presume. Thats a lot of pressure. I really doubt you are going lean unless you are running 20+ psi of boost.

With that high of a pressure sometimes startup can be a problem as well as part throttle.

You may also get better gas millage with the bigger injectors and less fuel pressure.

Default 310's + 4 Bar?

Would 310's and a 4 bar FPR with GIAC 2001 K04 programming run okay or maybe a little rich? Rich at idle?

Default That might be a little rich.

If you want to run 310's on a dbw you will need to get it down below 4 bar with a adjustable fpr.

Default He runs the J31 which makes 28psi of boost.

The ecu will ajust for idle and part throttle even when you turn the fuel pressure up. But you are correct about the car being harder to start, that is when the GIAC Mobile Tuner comes in handy =) since it will allow the user to lower the amount of fuel for warm starts.

Default Re: your car is sweet. i might cut the grills out of the bottom of my s4 bumper...

My 97 with K04 used to run like poop. It was a picky sob, I feel ya on that, and its non-dbw too. Used to surge like no other. Not to completely burst your bubble but its pretty much impossible to run 30psi if your on pump gas(limited octain) with that c/r ratio. Some cars are savages though and dont ping very easily and can take more boost.

Thanks for the nice comments btw. I been hiding out a lot lately. Just changed up some more stuff and went crazy on my fuel system. Cant wait to throw her back on the dyno heh.

Audi on!
