How do you tell if an A4 has the sport pkg?
Another silly question from the newbee. I'm shoping for an A4 (still a bit concerned about quality vs. Toyota). I test drove some new A4's and found the handling MUCH better with the sport package. There's a few used A4's on the lot but I can't tell if they have the sport pkg or not, and I don't trust a word the salesman says!

Different wheels(MY00+ 10 spokes, 98-99.5 7 spokes)
Also look at the shocks... redish-maroon-ish are sport shocks...
On '97 models the sport pkg had sport seats(and 5-spoke rims on 1.8T models)<p>- Anand Dhanda

And regarding '97's...
The one to be careful with is the '97 model year. The 1.8T did have a sport package but it was 'only' 16" 5-spoke wheels and sports steering wheel (I believe). The sports suspension was not available on any '97 A4. That came about on '98's - along with new 7-spoke 16" wheels.

The '97 1.8T sport pkge also included sport seats with "Jaquard Satin" fabric....
The fabric is all one color but has diagonal stripes in it.
Also, the 16 inch 5-spoke wheels have all season tires such as Goodyear RSA or Conti Contacts...not Dunlop SP8000.<p><a href="http://registry.audiworld.com/audi/registry/details.asp?car=161"</a><img SRC="http://pictureposter.audiworld.com/AudiWorldPics/2000/a4registrydl.jpg" BORDER=0></a>

Best way is to drive it
Three spoke wheel is a stand alone option, wheels/tires can be (and often are) swapped. Check the shocks, if it's got sport suspension, they should be a maroon color.<p>Regards,
