How does chipping a car actually improve it's performace....
At what point does a chipped a4 actually make a big difference? I'm getting my APR chip tomorrow and can't wait to find out for myself.

how it works? or in what way?
it works by remapping timing, increasing boost levels, and adjusting fro proper timing and air/fuel.
Your car will suddenly have power from 3k-6k. Big difference.

Depends on application.
NA chips don't do a whole heck of a lot. They advance the timing, remove the speed limiter and require higher octane. NA chips usually don't add alot. Custom chips matching your other modification can make bigger changes, such as intake and exhausts.
The biggest HP gains come with turbocharged cars, which mainly comes from increasing boost. Tuners usually do the above things also.
Hope that helps.

Re: Depends on application.
Next step will probably be the APR exaust. It look loke it only gives an extra 10Hp or so. Do you really think it's worth $899 plus installation?

It's worth it if you can afford it, IMO.
You can't go wrong with either Milltek or APR... both very solidly buit great sounding and looking systems. Borla is cheaper but it's a fairly sketchy system.

it's a quality system, but $800 for some pipes is expensive
ridiculously expensive actually. There are few other cars out there that have $800 exhausts. My friend paid $300 for a Borla for his Camaro. Aftermarket exhausts on Audi's are ludicrously priced. If I could do it again I would go with a custom exhaust.
