How does the L-hose affect performance?
So I have a torn L-Hose on my 2001 1.8t. I looked at the vacuum diagram and it seems that it connects between the Intake and the brake booster. The arrow indicates that it is a one-way hose going from the brake booster to the intake. Can someone explain when the valve is open and how this affects overall boost? Thanks!

My understanding is that it supplies vacuum to the booster when the manifold is under vacuum and
is pressurized when the manifold is under boost. The valve only allows flow from the booster diaphram to teh manifold .. in other words only allows vacuum to be pulled on the booster. If it is torn you are admitting false air when under vacuum and loosing boost when boosting. Fix it ASAP

When mine went I went from boosting 12lb Spikes with the X-Sauce, replaced it and back to 21lbs....
in a matter of minutes So ahhh does that indicate how much of a loss you can have, I finkkkks so! Get to that NOW.

Thanks everyone for the replies
I already had the part and was just waiting on a crimper to attach the oetiker clamp on. I was just curious how that hose affected boost, since there wasn't any information from the vacuum diagram. It is nice to have boost back =)

I picked mine up at the dealer
I think one side has a wider opening than the other. I think it was like $12 or something from the dealer. Part numbers and instructions can be found here: http://modifieda4.com/web/tech/connecting-hose.html
