I have a 1999 A4 1.8TQ which I think has a dying battery.
A search for "Die Hard International" says that having Sears install it would be ~ $100 + $9 installation whereas a DIY Autozone Die Hard International would be ~ $70.
I am not that knowledgeable about the maintenace of my car. However, how easy would be for me to replace the battery myself? Any special tools or precautions required to prevent electric shock or damage to the electrical system of my car?
Is the correct battery type a Die Hard International type 41? Is this a common battery that any Autozone should have in stock? Also, what is the correct way to dispose of the used battery?

Bring the old battery with you and give it to whom ever you get the new one from. You will need remove the rubber seal at the back of the engine, then the battery cover should slide right out. undo the battery and you are allset.
