opened my hood to see my turbo was bright red. Is this a sign that my turbo is on it's way out? I know that under extended hard driving it will glow...but after a few blocks seems a bit premature

Reminds me of when I worked for Electramotive and they were racing the factory Datsun/Nissan 280 ZX Turbo in IMSA GTO. We'd mock up the full engine compartment on the dyno (heat shields, plumbing etc.) and use high speed fans to duplicate air induction like on the track. We'd get it all cranked up and turn out the lights to watch the turbo and exhaust glow. Quite a show. Best was when we broke the spline shaft on the dyno rated at 800HP! Dyno sheet only said 796HP, guess we needed to do some corrections...
Thanks for the memory jog...
