Default How important is it to change brake fluid every 2 years as per manual?

i've been going to dealer for all the services, and they seem to have missed this. I just realized it's been 4 years since they did it! The manual says nothing about doing it based on mileage, just every 2 years. As a note, I've not been driving it much per year, maybe 7,000 miles a year.

brake fluid absorbs moisture & said moisture can cause seals to fail & mushy pedal feel

Default As you note, it is time not mileage based. Brake fluid will absorb moisture and becomes corrosive.

Also loses its stopping power when hot 'cause the water in it evaporates. Just get it flushed pronto.

VERY important, unless you like rusting calipers, ABS pump and lines

Default It's not. Many cars go their entire life w/o ever a fluid change. I say do every fluid at least once

That's right, Mr. Oil Junkie said once is enough w/coolant, diffs, ATF, PS fluid and brakes. If you want longer brake fluid life, use DOT 3. End of story. Also, flushing fluid is pointless w/o depressing the caliper cyl bore....as in doing a whole brake job. I'm not trying to get out of work. Go ahead and replace the fluid 100% during a brake job. Disassemble the calipers and clean/lube guide pins with antisieze. DO NOT go running to the dealer to pay out the *** for a fluid flush mid-brake pad/job life.

End of transmission.

Even "Racing" fluid contains corrosion inhibitors.

How does moisture get to the middle of a 12ft brake line?Don't say the fluid circulates, it doesn't.

Default the right answer: depends how agressive you drive.

for instance, if you track the car you should do it at least once a season, or you're an idiot.

since you're at double the time vs the recommendation, you should flush the fluid.
