Default How Long Did your Tires Last??? Dunlop SP8000 on the sports package: Quick wear or just bad in Wet

I'm curious as to how long your sport package tires lasted. I have about 26,000 miles on my car, and while there is some noticeable wear on the tires, I'm more concerned about my traction (or lack there of) in the wet. The other day, driving home at night in the pouring rain, it felt as if the car was all over the place. I number of times, I even noticed some lateral movement (very disconcerting at 70 mph). It may be that the tires are not good in the rain, but things definitely seem to be getting worse. Any other similar experiences? Can anyone recommend a good All Season tire. I don't have the space for winter and summer tires, unfortunately. The guy at the Ronal shop mentioned a Pirelli set that are one of a kind (sorry but I blank on the name). Anyone with these? They were offered with the R-28 wheels. As the weather gets colder, I want to deal with this soon and not risk losing the car. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks.

Default I've always felt the SP8000's were great in the rain...

I've got 21000 on mine, I'm almost to the treadwear indicators...rain performance has been decent even at this level.

I'm definitely sticking with the SP8000's, especially with the prices being so low.

Default At 26,000 the Dunlops have already did a great job. more

you probably think about the Pirelli 7000 supersport all season. People are not very pleased them after the Dunlops, but still considrered an impressive M+S tire if you can not have summer tires.

The Dunlops are gone, 26000 is great from a treadwear 200 high performance summer tire.

Are you down to the treadwear indicators? Wet performance declines BEFORE you reach them.

I have ran both Dunlop's and the Goodyear RSA's and the Dunlop's are much better in the wet.

Default I've run sp8000's on for a few years on my GTI and....

I have found that once they are near the wear bars they hydroplane fairly easily. They are an incredible wet/dry tire up until that point but once they are that worn you should replace them. In my experience 26,000 miles is excellent for an ultra high performance tire.

Mine lasted 18k miles and they suck in wet (compared to SO2 PP)

Tirerack just did a test on new Dunlop SP Sport 5000 allseason and gave it a good report.
