How long do the 30V spark plug wires typically last?

I have 71k on the odo and though the wires seem okay (engine runs ok and resistance is within the range spec'd in Bentley), I'm wondering if they could benefit from replacement.
And is there any real benefit to buying 'special' wires (e.g. STI) over the OEM Bosch wires?

Car began throwing intermittent misfire codes. I was due for plugs and the wires looked pretty worn, so I just replaced them. IIRC, the major service around 75000 is when audi recommends changing wires. However, you've tested yours and they're w/in spec, so you could certainly leave them be.
Each aftermarket manufacturer claims to have special features that make their wires superior. I searched the forums and asked those running different wires what their impressions were. I settled on Magnecor 8mm because several people running PES G2s as I am have had good results.
