Default How Many Miles is Too Many Miles

'98 1.8T - 115k...meticulously maintained..runs great.

1. how many more miles should I expect to get out of the engine?

2. What other mechanical issues do I need to pay particular attention to as mileage builds?

3. Other advice?

If it hasn't been done yet, Timing Belt Change #2 is nearly due.

Definitely, I'v had the timing belt changed, upgraded tensioners, etc. Just wondering if I can get 200k out of this without total compression degradation, blah, blah.

Default All else being equal, I would imagine it could go that distance.

I had a Passat with the 1.8T, and the timing belt tensioner failed on my way to the mechanic to get the TB done. It had 186,000 miles on it. I suspect It would have run much further had the failure not happened.

Default 1. Another 115k easy

2. Just things wearing out like vac lines, control arms, wheel bearings. Common stuff is all in the FAQ.

3. Keep it well-maintained, change the oil with synth every 5k, and enjoy. Chip it if it's not already.
