How much below MSRP can I expect?

I'm a former TT owner (sadly, my TT saved my life in an accident last summer...but he was declared a total loss afterwards) who is going to be in the market for an A4 in the coming week or so. Because of my job, it's going to be necessary for me to have a sedan rather than a sports car. But I figure that although not NEARLY so stylish, an A4 Quattro with the sports package and a 5-speed should be almost as fun to drive!
I live in Houston and bought my TT from Don McGill Audi. Since I didn't get the chance to haggle over the price of my TT, I'm not familar with how much of a discount to MSRP to expect on other Audi models. Since there will be a redesigned A4 coming out next year, can any of you give me any idea what kind of discount to shoot for when buying an A4 now? (And in the event I try to get an S4 instead, am I back to talking MSRP or MSRP+?)
Thanks in advance for the guidance! I used to be a frequent contributor to the TT Forum. When I rejoin the Audi family, I hope to make some new acquaintances here on the A4 Forum!

you're talking MSRP only if you order and wait it out. if you want one on the lot, you're looking at MSRP + dealer markup. that is what my dealer told me the other day. i assume it's the same for the A4, but this might all be totally dependant on demand, in which case i'd still assume that it'd be the same since our cars are pretty much in demand.

It seems people are able to get $1000-$1500 over invoice quite easily(regarless of options). I got a little under $1000 above invoice...$950 above invoice to be exact for my 2000, back in June when Dealers were starting to take orders for 2001's and were trying to clear the lots of their 2000's. Good luck.

My wife bought a 2001 A4 2.8 last summer. The dealers here in Seattle didn't want to order what she wanted and wouldn't discuss less than MSRP. Hate to say it, but since they're selling every Audi they can get, why should they discount? Supply and demand, ya know?
We wound up ordering the car EXACTLY as she wanted it from Roger Jobs Audi in Bellingham for MSRP less $1500.
Just to show how weird the market can be, I just bought a TT for $1300 below MSRP from one of the Seattle dealers who refused to negotiate on the A4 nine months ago. Go figure...

The car sales who sold a VW to my family hooked me up with the sales manager of an Audi dealership. I managed to order a 2001.5 A4 1.8TQ for 4-5% over invoice. Good luck to you.
