Default i know AXE had a custom job and he paid 10k AUD, which is like 5k USD

He had special paint and options, so it might be a little less for the RX7 depending on what you do...

Default changing color is really expensive

respray is one thing. changing color involves spraying the engine bay, inside the doors, inside the trunk. big big hassel and it has a good chance at not coming out how you would like it. if you want silver, it would probably be easier to sell the white car and get a silver one

Default "WE'LL PAINT ANY CAR FOR $29.95"

Earl Scheib commercial from my youth (Woodstock time). I think for that price they painted everything - glass, tires, wheels, bugs, dirt, rust, etc.

The major cost isn't the painting - it's the prep; trim removal, masking, light sanding. Then rubbing indiv. coats and then unmasking and installing trim. Think minimum of $3000.

Default The previous owner of my new car had a bare metal respray and converted to Nogaro

The paint is like a mirror .. no orange peel at all.
