My car is coming up on 90k miles, and a local mechanic recommended changing the fuel filter. I read the owners manual, and it doesn't say anything about changing the fuel filter.
What is the recommended change interval, and what is the typical cost to have it done?
Thanks,
P.

Maybe 1-2hrs labor...? Filter itself is about $20 IIRC. You could DIY, but accessing the strap bolt can be a PITA, especially if you don't have small hands. You see the write-up? Good luck

40K miles seems to be the norm, so you are way past due...
if you know someone who can hook you up and follow the user posted way of doing the fuel filter, cost is a 12 pack...
if you take it to the dealer, they will charge you probably 2+ hours of labor because they claim that you have to drop the whole gas tank...
my advice, get it changed, but try and find a fellow AWer to do it or follow the DIY write-up...hopefully someone can post it for you or use the search to find it becuase I have no idea where it was posted...

I replaced that bolt with a ziptie. Future changes will be easy. If you want to pay for it C&G unofficially quoted me $50 for the change. The filter should cost around $20.
I changed mine at 94k. To me 90k = lifetime these days.

then it will be easy. If you plan on wrestling with the screw, then it may be difficult depending on your patience and how rusted the screw is.
