how much should an average timing belt job cost in labor?

You maybe expect the tech to make less money because he could do the job faster?

i paid like 200 for the kit and 320 or so for labor, and that was the entire job.

I was charged $640 in labor for timing belt, water pump, ect. and a rear wheel bearing.

Default Could be worse

I've had some shops in the NoVA/MD area quote me ~$1100 for a complete job (I've got to do mine soon). Bear in mind this includes all the usual stuff, plus t-stat, new seals, and so forth, but that's still a lot more than I'd care to pay...

Unfortunately, you don't make anything near the $140 and hour they charge around here.
