Default How often do you repaint front bumber?

I had a sunfire for 7 years and the paint was still of in front, the bumper is at a sharp angle.

I've had the A4 for 3 months and the bumber was repainted at the dealer before I bought. I already see a lot of spots where the paint is gone!

It looks like I'll have to repaint the bumber every spring.

Default It's been 3 years now - haven't needed to repaint it yet...

It's got a few tiny rock chips, but nothing that would make me want to repaint it. The front of the hood is another story - a bunch of big and nasty rock chips. :-(

Default my car has gone 8 yrs without the front being touched ;)

But it all depends on where you drive I guess. Now that I moved down to VA Beach, I notice I'm getting more stone chips than I did up north... then again, all I do is highway driving here vs. the country back roads up home.

I'm gonna put a newer age bumper on my car though, so the streak is gonna end. I'm thinking I might put the 3M business on it to protect it a bit... but we'll see. If I get the hood done I'm def doing the clear bra business.

Also, the quality of the paint job will depict how much chipping it does. If the re-paint was done properly, it won't chip as much as it would if it were not done properly. My trunk was a good example of that. Got it repainted and when the salt trucks at school salted my driveway... it chipped the paint off the lid.

Default ok twice, but 1 repaint on this bumper cover...

which it needed because the first shop did a terrible shop on the new cover and refunded the costs to have it painted some place else, which I did after the tree branch issue that my insurance co. paid for. So, I feel it's a wash after paying my deductible twice.

Rich @ The Tint Shop in Edison, NJ is the closest StonGard retailer/installer.

Let him cut costom pieces. It's cheaper and covers more area.

If you use him, tell him that I sent you. I told him that I'd point business his way....not that we really have a choice since he's the only guy in the area that I could find via StonGard's customer service #.

You might find some cheap pre-cut pieces on clearance at

http://www.stongard.com</a

Default Cool... thanks for the info!

I'm possibly having my hood repainted when I put on my new bumper cover... totally depends on cost I guess. But I've been getting so many chips on the hood driving down here (when I actually had/drove my own car here =P) that I wanna protect it a bit. I haven't had the time though to run the car by the body shop to see how much $$ it's gonna cost to do it.

Did you put the stongard on the bumper too? Or just the hood.
