Default How to recode ECU after pulling P1612 code?

What steps do I have to go through with a VAG-COM to recode my ECU. Apparently it is coded for a manual (06201) and I own a tip which would make the proper coding 06251 correct? Would this affect my car being able to go into tip mode? Since around the time I have gotten my car chipped I haven't been able to get the car to recognize when it is put into tip mode but thought maybe the magnets may be misaligned after searching and finding a few threads about that happening.

Could someone let me know the steps in order to do the soft recoding? I am unfamiliar with using a VAG-COM and have to explain how to do it to a friend who has a VAG-COM. I looked on Ross-Tech's site and their wiki thing but I didn't have any luck. Maybe I am looking in the wrong place. Thanks in advance for any help.

Awesome. I found the table earlier from one of your previous posts but didn't know the VAGCOM steps

Default Ross-Tech has an interactive program manual that is really neat to use

Thanks. Do you think this could be the source of my tip not working or am I getting my hopes up?

It's possible. Are there any codes being stored on the TCU?

Default We haven't gotten that far. I was having some misfire issues (earlier post today) and saw the P1612.

First time I have pulled any codes in a long time. We didn't check the TCU since we were trying to find the cause of the misfires I was having and neither of us had ever seen the P1612 code before. I don't drive the car anymore but lately I have been doing work on it to get it ready to be sold. Hopefully it fixes my tip problems.

Recode it, clear the code, and it should go away.
