Avoid Mintex like the plague
They're awful in the rain/snow. For not a whole lot of money you can upgrade to A8 rotors and Hawk pads in the front. That will make a big difference in braking without breaking the bank.
You'll need:
TT caliper carriers ($259/pair from ECS)
A8 ECS rotors ($139/pair from ECS)
Hawk HPS brake pads ($89 from Tirerack)
So you're total investment is about $500 when you include shipping charges. That's a LOT cheaper than a big brake kit, it uses easy-to-find parts that you can get at any VW/Audi dealer in a pinch, and noticibly improves wet and dry braking for your car.
Cheers,
