OK, I don't understand something.

Does the Hub Shark pull the bearing and hub, and then you need to use a press to get the bearing off the hub? Or can the Hub Shark pull the bearing too?

I don't mind spending money on good tools, my tool box is a Snap On, as is all the tools in it.

But I want to be sure what I am getting into.

The hub comes out first(easy part). Then the bearing gets pressed out of the upright(harder part).

You pull the hub from the bearing first, then turn around and press the bearing out.

Default yup, didn't work on a buddy's right rear wheel bearing. ended up pulling the upright and had a shop

press it out/in -- even after buying the biggest air gun at Sears. lots of wasted $$, imo, since the HubShark + gun > taking it to a shop and never getting dirty.

Default Here's the way I *used* to do it at work

Slidehammer the hub out of the bearing. Then, get the hub shark out. Press the bearing out. Press new bearing in. Remove piece of old bearing on hub (if applicable) then press hub into bearing.

Default What about back together?

Do you just pound the hub/bearing back into place?

Default my experience with bearings... non audi related =

get a pipe of similar diameter to the bearing... just so it catches the edge. put a wood block ontop of the pipe and tap it into place. You can also use a vinyl dipped hammer to do this. The proper way to get the bearing in is use a press... that applies equal pressure to all parts of the bearing.

Hammer and block of wood works though

Default Nah, you use the hub shark to press it back in.

It comes with multiple sizes of press pieces. It is something that I could explain better by demonstration over a write-up. Or if you'd like, call me.

Default You'd need a BIG BIG BIG hammer for the Audi bearing....

They are pressed really hard, very tight and a a lot of surface area.

You have to use a press of some sort.
