Not only did it take way to long, but when I was going to put the cv joint back on, a couple of the ***** fell out. I put them back in and with plenty of grease. I put the cv joint back on, replaced all the necessary clips etc, put everything back together, retighten the axle collar bolts. Go take it for a drive. Start to back up and no noise. Went to go forward and it seems the axle is just spinning. Car is being towed to local independent mechanic. At this point I am the suck. oh well **** happens.

it sucks. I think I put the joint back on 3 times without the boot(yeah...) You learn a lot more doing it yourself, but it can be a pain if you dont have another car to drive while the Audi is in pieces

the tow truck driver was looking under the car and sure enough, he's like yup there is one of your bearings. Apparently that cv joint was shot and was on its last leg. I'm too busy this week, so i'll just have my independent shop put a reman axle in, especially since my car has 129k on it and that was the orignal passenger cv axle. Now I don't feel so bad, just pissed I didn't do a reman in the first. So word to the wise, don't f with the cv boot change on a high mileage car get a full reman axle.

done it before to kinda help me, but this seemed straight forward. But I sure did learn a log about the cv joint and axle assembly.

I had the inner front passenger side go on mine. It did the same thing as yours, the car wouldn't move. I found all the bearing at the end of my driveway the next morning. Had it towed to the the shop and he said the whole boot was ripped open, so I had both front complete axels replaced.
The boot I have to do next weekend is an outer one.
