The Vag software works fine until I start the engine. Then all I get is the "can't synch baud rate." Everything else works fine. Any ideas?

Sorry, I can't do AIM. I don't understand why everything else would be fine though? It's only when I start the car that I run into the problem. I don't know. It's all new to me. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I posted on the vag-com list, but there hasn't been any action in there all weekend.
Thanks,
Chad

For most, go to the control panel, select PORTS, then the comm the vagtool is on, I'll assume com1. Change the settings as mentioned, then also select ADVANCED, toggle FIFO's enabled, and lett'er rip.

Alright I have the speed changed. What do you mean by hardware handshake? Set the Flow control to hardware? I have use FIFO buffers checked. What should the buffers be set to? I am running win 98.
Thanks again,

Thanks ALOT Ed. I'll give it a try tomorrow. Since I have your attention....one more question for a stage 3 family member. When you go full throttle, does your exhaust blow smoke or what seems to be smoke? I am wandering if for some reason that I am running too rich.
Thanks,
Chad

ALL turbo cars do if they are properly mixing fuel. What it is, is when you shift, you are cycling unburnt fuel when you lift off the throttle. That unburnt fuel for say 2k of revolutions has sucked in and ecavuated partially burned gas, and it's WORSE in turbos, because the mixture is more in volume than a N/A engine (remember you are a FORCED INDUCTION engine - you are stuffing more air and gas than normal). That unburnt fuel is the black puff. If you do NOT see that you're car is running too LEAN and is actually BAD.
