Default I can't take cleaning my wheels with a scrub brush every 3 days. Brake dust theory #1

I think that it isn't really brake dust that gets all over the our wheels. My theory is that it is some sort of semi-metallic fungus or parasite that is attracted to the shiny & newly cleaned wheels. This fungus, or parasite as I call it, feeds on the clear-coat that most wheel manufacturers use. Upon reading posts stating that "brake dust" is reduced significantly once you change to aftermarket pads, I have to conclude that they are attracted by the smell of hot OEM brake pads. This "dust" is unaffected by most spray on cleaners and must be scrubbed off. This seems to verify that it is a living organism of some sort. I am going to further test my theory by trying tough actin' Tinactin or Micatin or some other type of spray on anti-fungal medication on my wheels next time this parasite appears.

I actually use a wash cloth and car wash soap. Scrub brush was for dramatic effect. :-)

Default Further, the more you clean, the more it grows...

Which is why I rarely do it!

After all, the last time my car was washed was at the Quattro Challenge at Nazareth.

Hi there ... sorry, but I cannot resist asking: are those gold badges available on the market or did you take them off and paint them yourself ?
How easily do they come off without damaging them or the paint ? Do they snap back in right and tight ?

Thanks !

Roberto, Il Piccolo Alpino.
