WOW!
I am not just saying this because
i own an Audi but...
what an incrediable peice of junk!
The exterior styling is about the only thing that is nice on the car! The interior is very plain
braking is better on my A4 so is handling.
And dont even get me started on acceration, i felt like i needed to go out and push it along?
maybe it was because it was an automatic? but i dont know where Road and Track gets it 0-60 times from because there is no way in hell that car is faster than my Stock A4 1.8T 5 speed!
Maybe im not being fair because im comparing auto with stick but it was very sluggish! when i get a chance i need to test drive one in stick to see if there is a difference!

sport car like i do. Its a very enjoyable and fun to drive car than most, but when u get down to it, a stick 323 will be faster than a stock 1.8, but the sensation of speed is quite different. The BMW has smooth and seamless acceleration, while in our cars its more peaky. Get a chip, otherwise innocent looking cars like a 3 or C-class will kick ur butt anyday=) Trust me I learned from experience!!

I realize that there may be "new" unsold 323i's my2000 still on dealer lots, but BMW is at this point ONLY shipping 325i's (323's replacement for '01). My GF just picked up hers. I'll admit that LOADED as hers is it's a nice car (The LCD screen nav just kicks ***) but not the bang for the buck like my chipped 1.8T Although the 323 already had a 2.5 liter engine, they did improve the breathing noticably and it has 192hp (up from 170) and definately has the pull that last years 328I did. Still not as fast as mine, but a pretty sweet car none the less. It's pretty amusing to turn traction and stability control off and induce some full on oversteer, wish the Audi could do a little more of that!

Here are the current BMW 2.5 liter stats:
Nominal output/rpm (hp) = 184/6000
Max torque/rpm (lb-ft) = 175/3500
The old 2.8 liter was ~192 hp. BTW - the previous 2.5 liter ('99) had 181 lb-ft of torque. I wonder why torque dropped?
