I finally found my suspension squeaking. I've got a broken spring. Right at the base of the spring,
there is a diagonal break, and thats letting the spring set off center, and its rubbing on the shock. It makes quite possibly the worst noise i've ever heard. But i found it. Now i need a new suspension.

me too, bothe the squeak and broken spring, but the squeak is feom the ball joint on the control arm.

so how long do you have until the control arm compeletly takes a ****?
because i assume my control arms are starting to go, but i have no budget to replace 4 (possibly more?) of them until next month. this is happening at the same time when i am looking to move 200 miles away.. i don't trust my car to make another one of these roadtrips to finalize the deal on my new pad :-\

If you hear any clunking, I'd get them fixed yesterday....
I had the lower control arm break on my passat last year, same symptoms, but I didn't pay attention. Luckily, it broke just as I was rolling to a stop.
