i get pretty loud chattering from the engine (camchain tensioner?) after long or spirited drives....
sounds like maybe it gets worse when the oil is hot/thin?
i only recently started noticing this noise comming from my engine.
im using m1 5w-30 as i always have, do you think moving to 0w-40 will help? i never had problems before with the oil weight, i dunno why it would start giving me the ticking sounds...
01 a4 1.8t 47k miles.

Had mine replaced at 45k miles, made a chattering when reving from 1k-3krpms
There is an updated part for 01s... don't know the exact part number, but the old one ended in D, and the new one in E.

Best way to isolate is when you hear the noise, put a screwdriver or something metal
up to the tensioner or other parts and see where the loudest noise is coming from. For me the noise was loudest on the cam chain tensioner. Its a hands on thing and to hard to say for sure over the internet.
