it was really odd too. usually i get about 21mpg. not too good for a chipped 1.8tQ. today, i got in the car with a full tank of gas and zeroed out the average mpg on my trip computer. i noticed that the car was getting excellent mileage for the first few miles but i thought that this was normal because the road is nice and flat and i got all green lights. By the time i got to school about 20min later, my average mpg was about 34. Damn good! but i didn't expect it to last long. all the driving i do is on suburban or residential roads during traffic. I had to take the freeway this afternoon to go to my doctor's and expected my mileage to level out to its normal 21mpg during the rush hour hustle. wrong. when i finally got home, my average was about 26mpg. This is such a big change from yesterday's average of 20.5mpg. i guess i did drive a little more conservatively today, but not that much. oh well, no complaining here. i'm supprised that this happened so abruptly. I've got about 6500 miles on the car and this great mileage just started today. i hope it lasts. Does anyone know why my car might be getting such good mileage all of a sudden?

took a trip from VA to CT, averaged with driving there: 29.7 (2000 1.8TqM)
