A4 (B5 Platform) Discussion Discussion forum for the B5 Audi A4 produced from 1995-2001 B5 FAQ

I have been seeing lots of "Soccer Moms" driving S4 avants lately. That's just plain WRONG!

Default yeah but these are the same people that would normally drive the suv's

have you seen the way they drive and beat their cars? Have you noticed the condition some of these cars come into the dealer to get serviced? i.e. bumpers all mangled because they misjudged the height of the parking block or curb. I don't know...i'd be a bit hesistant about getting a preowned ex-soccer mom car...and what are the odds of it being manual anyway...most likely auto.

Default I'd still rather have an S4 with some easy-fix scratches & Cheerios ground into the carpet than...

an S4 that was owned by an "enthusiast"...i.e. heavily modded and driven hard.

Cosmetic stuff is easy to fix properly and doesn't bother me too much...blown turbos and an overall "loose" feel from too much hard driving aren't remedied nearly as easily.

I guess if I had to pick between the two, I'd go with the soccer mom-mobile every time.

Default you've got a point there...no doubt about that

but getting one that's been in the hands of an average enthuasist would ensure that the car was pampered don't you think?

Probably better maintained (cosmetically & mech)...but driven harder. And in my mind, that's worse.

Default I probably would. I am fanatical about maintenance and I try not to drive it too hard...

it might be a different story after the 230HP conversion is all done, though
