Since they already have worked with DBW cars and the cruise control stalk... you think it would be relativily easy to make a "smart cruise control?"
I gather you would have to run some kind of signal wire into the ECU so that it would be smart enough, or maybe they could use a radio signal or something.
ok, the idea is.. a cruise control that will adjust its speed so that it keeps pace with the car in front of you. I figure they could just make it another EMCS program, which adjusts the boost and throttle and such with a distance sensor in the front. maybe make it only work for 10% difference or something, to be safe.

hum, well I know I'd be willing to pay for
after the drive today.. I hate following people in cars that only stay like within 5% of the set speed.. or people without cruise control.
whatcha' think?

That would be a real thrill. ****, people can't even figure out that they can temporarily
speed up to pass a car going one furlong per fortnight slower than they ... then resume cruise once passed and in the right lane.
Just what I need ... 4000000 morons with a cruise control that exactly paces the moron in front of him. Can you say rolling grid-lock.
Maybe if all American drivers had to spend 4 months learning to drive in Germany or Belgium.

they are testing that idea in Berkerley already...
cars would have front and rear sensor and match the speed for the car in front and behind you, get this
there will be magnets on the road and the car sensor would sense the magnet and turn for you.
they've successfully tested and they can manage to keep cars 4 inches apart going at 80mph.
btw, with that, you don't even have to drive the car or get on the gas
good for long commute eh?
