I have not gotten an oil change in over 12,000 miles... oh noes?

Default I have not gotten an oil change in over 12,000 miles... oh noes?
I always thought that our cars had to be oil changed every 10k miles with M1 synthetic, but I thought that going over by a couple thousand miles wasnt too bad, until I heard that we should actually be changing it around 5-6k?? not sure.

But... what can be a result of me not changing my oil for such a long time? Anything I should check up on?

Default Your kidding right? Oil Sludge city man, look into auto rx ... your car is givin you the finger ...
as we speak. You should also be using the larger oem filter

Default ^^Do this^^ & also start changing your oil every 5K & use the larger OEM filter.
Don't EVER let it run that long again!

Default I've gone 11k with German Syntec.M1 should be ok too if your engine is normal.Long or short trips?
12,000 miles is much different if it is 12,000 1-mile trips with the oil never getting warmed verses 6 months of 50 miles a day trips with the oil getting hot and cleaning itself and the engine. Do OC intervals according to time. 3x a year is good. Every 6 months is not as good.
