I heard the A4 Quattro Gas Mileage is yet to be desired, any comments?

A4 1.8T or Maxima....
The A4 will give you good gas mileage by virture of it being a 4 cylinder car, Maxima=6 cylinder. Of course everyones interpretation of 'good' will vary. If you do expect to chip the A4, then you will have to use premium unleaded, I don't know if the stock Maxima is the same.
What kind of numbers do you realistically expect? Remember, there is a trade-off for everything. If gas mileage is your most important criteria, you may want to look at totally different cars.
I drove both cars an choose the A4, but that's my taste. Gas mileage was not a big enough consideration to worry about.

Oil used is also a factor - big difference with 5-30 vs 20-50.
I average 18--19 for very short trips. 26.1 on the highway going over the Rockies on I-70. Will have a long trip to St Louis in May. Hope to hit 28 since it is all down hill and the winds should be at my back.
