Default Hate to rain on your parade, BUT...

First, you don't need to crack the fuel line to change the valvecover gasket. In fact, I highly reccommend NOT touching that.

Second, if you have oil leaking onto your exhaust, more than likely its coming from the cam chain tensioner seals. BTDT, 3 times.

Third, our engines are not Hemis, they are Pentroofs. Read more here.

Default I was unable to remove the cover without undoing the fuel line

if your engine is ATH, then you can. Mine is ATQ.

My valve cover gasket was leaking oil. It was plainly obvious by following the trail with my eyes.

Hemi/pentaroof, splitting that hair mighty fine at that point don't you think?

Default Don't remember the brand

that's what it said on the bottle. The only purpose is to hold the gasket down until I put the cover back on. It can be loose on the edges.

A friend who owns a auto shop let me do the work in his empty bay for christmas.

Default I argree, same exact thing ran across my mind

1) don't touch the fuel line, its not nessecary, and frankly, most people shouldn't mess with it

2) your should have replaced your cam tensioner seals when you were in there, it would have cost about $10 more and saved you having to do this entire job over again when they start leaking (they will) or if they were the initial problem that was just miss diagnosed.

Default My valve covers were leaking too, but the real culprait was the cam tensioner seal..

the valve covers leak onto the heat shields, the cam tensioner seals run down the head, and drip right onto the exhaust, near where the downpipes bolt onto the manifold.

splitting a hair? I think not, especially there is an entire page on that article about how bad a hemispherical head design is not effective for today's engine designs. did you read the article?

To be honest, I have not looked at my newer engine, but I still try to never mess with the fuel lines as much as possible. If you say it can't be done, I'll trust you till I find otherwise..

Default Yeah, the new Hemi engine is really nice, they go like stink!!

Mostly due to really good breathing, and more revs.. If you look at the revs, the Hemi is turning LOTS more than the others..
