Default I just tried to buy power steering fluid from the dealer...

I was 99% sure I needed Pentosin 11S, but the parts guy insisted I needed 7.1 for my 99 A4. I insisted on getting the 11S, but no go, and I walked out empty handed. He said they only use 11S on Porsches and all the Audis get 7.1.

So who didn't know what the fvck they were talking about, me or him?

Default here is a snippit about what germanautoparts.com says about it

Pentosin CHF 11S Synthetic Hydraulic Fluid - Fully synthetic hydraulic fluid for steering and central hydraulic systems. This synthetic fluid is correct for many later models which specify synthetic fluid. Temperature range -40C to +130C. Should not be mixed with ATF fluids or other power steering fluids. ***Note - this is currently sold as part # G00200 by Audi/VW as of 1990, replacing Pentosin CHF7.1 The CHF11S is correct for Audi/VW 1990 and later models, while Audi/VW 1989 and earlier models can use either 7.1 or 11S although 11S is recommended. Audi/VW states that 7.1 and 11S can be mixed if necessary but we suggest draining and flushing the system if you are changing from 7.1 to 11S***

Don't even tell them what car it is for. Just tell them to give you the 11s

Default I told him the part# G 002 000, and he said that is just the 7.1

As long as it doesn't turn into a multi-month affair like it did to get new door handles, then I will consider it a success.

Default I prefer to make them do it without knowing the car, it drives them nuts

it goes against all the procedures they are given. It shows which guys know what they are doing and which are just trained monkeys. But yeah, sometimes you just need to tell the guy what he wants to hear so you can get your part and be on your way.
