Default I love AWD (saturn vs delay AWD)

So I am sitting at a light with some tunes playing rather loud. A old man in a saturn strolls up beside me and I think nothing of it. As the light turns green I start to pull away normal and I hear him chirp so hit the clutch and bob the revs to 3k and drop from a roll. Needless to say I blew past him. Now don't worry, I shut down @ 50KPH (speed limit) but it sure taught him a lesson

Default what makes you think he was trying to race you?

Ive had old guys blast from lights all the time, personally i think older people often don't have the fine motor control to accelerate lightly from a stop. Does not mean they are racing.

One thing for a teen in a Saturn who is revving and making his intentions known...but an "old man" in a car that is clearly not on par with yours....he *does* have the right to accelerate smartly from a light without incurring the wrath of the fancy car in the other lane.

Reminds me of when i was at a light a couple months back in my Miata. My Miata is loud, it also sounds better than any Audi. So the light turns green and i do a gentle, but firm launch. What do i see? The S4 owner pacing me, taunting me to race....WTF? Was the fact that his car, even stock, makes 110hp more than my Miata not a understood fact? That made me angry, and i can't wait for the day to drop a 10psi JRSC into my Miata so even it (let alone my A4 which would tear him a second a$$hole) will embarass his S4.

Cheers,
Sameer

Default My father-in-law tries to race kids all the time in his Regal GS.

He beats most of them since they are usually in small 4cyl engine cars (normally aspirated).
I've been in the car too many times when this has happened. You have to remember also that "older" men come from a time where hot-rodding was just as popular as tuning now.

It's always been the same, just different clothes and hairstyles.

Default My dad races all the time from the lights :)

He bought himself a TL type S and now he thinks he's Big Daddy Don Garlits. Gets all excited when he rolls up to 330i's.

Unfortunately he can smoke me But when I steal my mother's stang GT it's a different story
