at the Redline Time Attack, which the guy next to me won RWD Modified and the car basically had a harness bar, rear wing and RA1s along with track pads. He was running about 7 seconds faster than my A4, but 2 of that is tires and 1-2 is driver who is willing to drive it 10-10ths (I was not), but that still leaves it 4 seconds faster car v car.

I'll be the first to admit that a BMW with few mods will make a better track car than an Audi with the same few mods. It's just the nature of the beast...50/50 weight ratio goes a LONG way. Building a well balanced audi track car can obviously be done, but it just takes a lot more work than a BMW.
Good luck with the M3...it looks great!

There is a white E30 coupe for sale near my house... I think it is an 325IS or ES as it has the decklid spoiler and the deeper front valance. If it didn't have what I think is a rust spot on the R quarter panel before the wheel (near jack point) I might consider buying it for cheap. Problem is I know fvck all about BMW products and I've already got a track toy with ECM problems... no place to park means it has to stay outside in condoland.
