<br>I have a 1998 1.8T with the 5-speed. When I let my foot off the gas with the car in gear, I hear a high-pitched metallic clicking noise coming from under the car. It sounds like a car version of the noise a 10-speed bike makes while coasting. It not all that loud, and you really only notice it when the windows are down. The car seems to run fine, and the dealer found nothing wrong on a test drive/visual inspection, but it just doesn't seem like a normal noise to me. Have any of you guys noticed it ??? Please respond. Thanks !!

I have a similar noise, that just started yesterday. It happens only when the car is started, and only when it is cold -- if the weather is above 10oC it doesn't happen, and if it's cold out the noise goes away after a few minutes of engine warm-up. Have not been to the dealer yet, but that's a trip for this afternoon!
