Default I need some sound advice

I have a 99 audi a4 with the bose concert cassette face and the cd changer in the back of the car.
I love the look of the stock unit but the sound is not very good at all.

If I add an aftermarket amp and speakers to the existing headunit, will the sound improve quite a bit or will it just be a louder version of what I have now?

I have read many reviews on this board and some people say upgrading the amp makes little difference while some people say there is a dramatic difference.

I have an alpine headunit, 2 channel zapco amp, 4 channel fosgate amp, 5 1/2 mb quart components, 5 x7 alpine rears, 2 12" kicker solobarics, cap, wiring, etc.

lets say I forget the alpine headunit and just use the 2 amps running off the stock headunit, how would I go about doing that.
My idea was to power the front mb's with the zapco 2 channel, use 2 channels on the fosgate for the rears, and 2 channels of the fosgate for the subs.
This is essentially what I did with my alpine headunit, but obviously that has 3 pairs of rcas in the back.
Is this even possible with the headunit?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated
thanks,
Eddie

Default well first the Bose system uses a different impedence than standard

Did you ever switch the settings for the headunit so that it acts like a standard unit, and not a bose unit??

Default

You need a VAGCOM. It will allow you to change the settings.

Default read some of the tech articles...

i have the bose and added a subwoofer, and i am happy enough... otherwise, you pretty much need to gut and replace everything to make it sound right....

one writeup about just adding an amp
