Default when you turn the key, before starting...

do/can you hear the fuel pump?

do it a couple of times

if all else fail, pump the gas padel a few times then crank it

Clogged injectors, maybe? That can happen when you run out of gas

Clogged filter or injectors possibly.

Exactly... Why run the risk of messing up your engine by letting the tank go so low?

Default Try this..

First be sure to add more than just one gallon. Best if you add 3-4 then becuase you may have air in the line you need to just turn over the engine for up to a few min. You shouldn't need to pump it, the fuel pump should do the work. Give it a try..

Default FOLKS, DO NOT let your car run out of gas. Your fuel pump uses gasoline as a lubricant..

No gas means it will overheat and fail. Although I only heard of one incident of running out of gas causing an explosion (fumes + heat ~= bomb), that was in the old days where they didn't have sealed gas systems and charcoal canisters.

There is a fuse #28 IIRC. Check to see if you have voltage there while cranking. That is the fuel pump fuse. Also, you can bypass this fuse to 12V. If you do not hear a faint sound of a fuel pump, consider it bye bye. GoodLuck
