If I were you I'd send a note to the prof., and let him know that you will be pre-occupied with this... Take time with your friend, screw school, your friend is much more important.

yeah its pretty rough.. i took the final and did well i think.. now i have the entire break to worry
..about whether my friend is going to live, die or be paralyzed.... life really sucks somtimes..

I don't know if this will help you, but it helps me everytime I find myself in a stressful situation.
There are things you can and can not control in life. Some people take comfort in concentrating on the things they CAN control. Everything else will work out, regardless of whether you worry or not.
To put it simply, your friend probably needs your support right now. His will to live and recover are just as important as any medicine. If you can do something to help him along, make the necessary arrangements. If his condition is such that he can not recognize your support, then maybe you need to focus on some other way to accomplish something good. Maybe that means taking your exams, I don't know.

thx alot for your consideration... its just rough... cause i just dont know whats going to happen...
hes at jefferson in downtown philly.. they had to airvac him cause it was so bad... as such i cant visit him and because ive been at school i havent seen him recently. what makes this worse is the fact that this happened 2 years ago in a similar way. a really close friend of mine left for college and was killed in a car crash a couple months later.. and it seems like its happening all over. but what you say definitly makes sense. im trying to keep my mind off it but its really tough not only because i care about him but also because all of my friends are feeling the same as well as my family. its somthing that i cant escape. just gotta pray and hope for the best i guess and put your life in perspective
