I was very close to buying the 2001 A4 last week when I was told that the 2002 A4 was to be much better, and to wait for that. I agreed, and am going to wait until October to see them. I had a few questions though. Would you prefer the 2002 over the 2001? Is the 2002 still a pretty small car, like the 2001? I know the 2002 is a little bigger, but is it still approx. the same size? Also, a big thing that matters to me (it may sound silly), but I LOVE the way the A4 lights up at night, how the dash is all red lighting, will the 2002 have the same effect? The 2001 looked very classy, I can't wait to see the 2002 in person, I hear it looks 50 times better in person than in photos! Thank you for your time, and sorry for the overwhelming questions!

The look is much more modern, handling is better, etcetera. The news archive here has an article about its introduction. Motorweek had a preview last week, and may have a full report any week now. Watch the listings.
I almost skipped my A6 4.2 to get a new A4. Only reason not to wait is (a) getting lower price on a used one, or (b) if the looks really bug you. I don't find it looks like the A6 from the rear, but does from the front (and I mean that in a good way!).

Here's some 158 photo's that may answer some of your questions. The new A4 looks smaller than the current A4 because of its high waistline, but actually the interior space and overall length of the car are increased. I've read nothing but fantastic reviews of the car.
Sorry if the link doesn't work. I think Yahho changes the URL periodically :-(<ul><li><a href="http://y42.photos.yahoo.com/bc/joeorto/lst?&.dir=/My+Photos&.src=ph&.view=t&.last=1">Pictures of New Audi A4</a></li></ul>

Wow, I really appreciate these responses. The photos look great JoeO! This audi cabriolet looks very nice as well. Does anyone know if Audi is going to keep the red instrunment panel lighting for the 2002 A4? Thanks again, I think I will wait for the 2002, as long as its not too expensive, I am expecting maybe 28,000 USD..?

of last year when Audi first introduced the car over in Europe. I can't believe I've waited this long for a new car, but I was so happy with my last A4, I'm hoping the wait is probably worth it. I plan to buy one, but only after I test drive the new 3.0 engine, and then I'll probably have to order what I want (so it might not be until the first of the year before I get one).
Keep in mind that I carefully selected all the nice pictures of the new A4. There were some ugly pictures which I selectively decided not to post. As far as introductions in the US, I believe the sedan will be here end of Oct, the Avant will be sometime in the spring, and the convertible will be fall 2002. Also, I just read in some magazine, the next S4 will be arriving in Set 2002 as a 2003 model (not sure how accurate that prediction is).
