Default I'd just like to reiterate... the OEM wipers SUCK.

A frozen snowy morning in Boston and did my wipers help out at all once the windshield was scraped and then thawed by my defrost?

Hell no. Bosch Micro Edge Excel's, here I come!

Yes, but they're FREE. And I've had good experiences with Bosch as well.

Do the dealers carry them?

Default They should, though you can get them at many better chain stores such as NAPA, Autozone, Pep Boys

Even K-mart if I am not mistaken. Seems that everyone and their cousin carries Bosch wipers.

Default Bosch MicroEdge isn't any better than OEM in the snow

A few months ago I put a Bosch MicroEdge on my driver's side, because I did not want to wait 3000 miles until my next service appointment, and it wasn't worth a special trip to the dealer just for a wiper blade.

At the next service, I got my free OEM blades under warranty. A clean wiper blade in good condition is the key here. It doesn't matter if it is Bosch or OEM. I actually thought that the OEMs were better than the Bosch -- when they were NEW, that is.

But for the wintertime, none of them will help.
Get winter wipers. Bosch makes them, Trico makes them. Audi makes them (I bought mine from Clair).
And my personal favorite is Anco, but I could not find a mounting adaper to fit them onto the A4 wiper arm.

Drive safely,
Peter

True, and the real key is to keep ice from building up on the wipers.
