An idea for the V1 radar detector and A4 installation... Has anyone done this? Can it be done?

I don't know if this will help at all, but I had a Whistler remote radar detector mounted in my previous car (Acura Integra). The radar module was mounted under the front bumper. The laser module was mounted to the back of the rearview mirror. And the display module was mounted in the ashtray -- using velcro to attach it to the to of the ashtray.
Hmm, I hope that the lease company doesn't notice that I cut up the ashtray to do it !
I was looking at the ashtray in my '98 A4, and it looks like a similar type of installation will also work. However I cannot comment on the newer cars with the redesigned ashtrays.
