If a fuel injector died a code for the injector would come up correct?

I am re-thinking my issue with the misfire in cyl. 2 on my 01, and just thought maybe it could be the fuel injector as some have recommended to me. If there is no code for a fuel injector I should be able to rule that out ... no?
Thanks

But if it shorts out internally or develops an open circuit it will throw a code for that.

You could always swap that fuel injector to another cylinder and see if the misfire moves with it...

Because I already ordered the new wires and pins to replace the wires to the coil pack. Boosted said he had the same symptoms as me, and it was the pins/contacts that go to the coil packs.

You could spray some carb cleaner around the intake manifold gasket around cyl 2...if idle speed increases you have an intake leak.

if 1 injector *partially* is clogged chances are it will idle smooth and start to knock then miss as load/rpm's go up. if u got a dead miss pull the coil out, stick a screwdriver in it hold the isulated side of the screw driver and have the shaft of the screwdriver next to a good ground (block, alternator anything metal.) have a buddy start the car and look for a spark while the shaft is 1/4 inch away, no spark you found your problem. then swap with another coil. if you do have spark, pull the plug out stick the plug in the coil, hold the coil so the end of the plug is grounded and then look for spark between the plug gap. no spark, bad plug.
